The resulting water and dampness in the wall resulted in a great deal of mildew to the point that his unit is not livable.
On Friday, he'll be traveling to Galveston to pick up what of his belongings are still in good condition, moving it to a storage area and starting the process of finding a new place.

found your post on twitter - just wanted to say how sorry i am to hear of all the troubles down there in TX and LA! Ike even caused flooding here in missouri and we had lots of homes/apartments flooded just down the street here.
